Position Summary

The Developmental Director leads Gymkhana’s Developmental Program for children ages 3 to 6 by creating a safe, engaging, and nurturing environment where young children develop confidence, coordination, body awareness, and a love for gymnastics. This position oversees the daily operations of the Developmental Program while ensuring consistent instruction, age appropriate curriculum, and exceptional coaching across all classes.

Working closely with the Location Manager and other Program Directors, the Developmental Director is responsible for mentoring instructors, supporting child development, partnering with families, and maintaining a positive, fun, and structured learning environment that prepares children for future success within Gymkhana and beyond.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop the Developmental coaching staff through mentoring, coaching, and ongoing support.
  • Oversee the daily operations of the Developmental Program for children ages 3 to 6.
  • Implement and maintain age appropriate curriculum, lesson plans, and skill progressions.
  • Ensure coaches provide engaging, positive, and developmentally appropriate instruction.
  • Help children build confidence, coordination, listening skills, body control, and a love for movement.
  • Evaluate student readiness and make recommendations regarding progression within the Developmental Program.
  • Observe classes regularly and provide constructive coaching feedback to instructors.
  • Assist with conducting staff training, one on one coaching sessions, and performance evaluations.
  • Ensure all safety standards, gym policies, and incident reporting procedures are followed.
  • Build strong relationships with families by communicating student progress, celebrating successes, and addressing questions or concerns.
  • Collaborate with other Program Directors and the Location Manager to ensure consistency across all Gymkhana programs.
  • Assist with staffing, substitute coverage, camps, clinics, and special events.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, welcoming, and safe learning environment.
  • Lead by example by demonstrating professionalism, enthusiasm, patience, and Gymkhana’s core values.

Schedule Expectations

  • Minimum 30 hours per week.
  • Will teach 10 to 25 hours per week.
  • Must be available to work daytime, evening, and weekend hours.
